Thanks to digital cameras and image processors, we can take hundreds of pictures in one day and adjust them in case we get something wrong. If you don't want to pay for an advanced image editor, SView5 is a good alternative. It features numerous options for basic or advanced editing and they are all placed on a small interface, where you can find what you need with very little effort.

The application is free and it is compatible with most Windows platforms. After downloading the small setup file, you just need to run it and follow a few instructions. Unlike other similar software, SView5 will not use too many resources, so there is no need for top of the line hardware.

A series of editing options, as well as a preview area, can be found on the program's interface. You may click on check boxes or select items from drop menus to set up a slide show, convert loaded images to a different format, edit their tag information, crop or rotate them and much more. SView5 lets you load multiple images, under different tabs. All you need to do is select a tab, click the Load option and select an image. The software is capable of importing images from scanners or cameras as well. You can also take a snapshot of your screen and load it immediately just by clicking a button.

If you select certain options on the interface, the same selections will be made for all the loaded images. They can be saved in numerous formats, including JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, RAW, HDR and many more or they can be copied to the clipboard, along with the modifications you made. You can also export an image's RAW data, Alpha channel and different types of meta data.

Additional effects and editing options can be found in the Image menu. They will help you perform numerous tasks, like mirroring or flipping an image, adjusting its colors, contrast, gamma and so on, add blur, emboss and other effects, add watermarks and more. If you take your time with SView5, you will discover many features for basic or advanced image processing.

Pros

The application supports a very broad range of image formats. Its interface is compact and it contains many editing options. The best part is that SView5 is free and it can be installed very fast.

Cons

The interface is a bit cluttered and it may take you some time to figure out how to use the available options. SView5 offers the same options as other advanced image processors, but it lets you work much faster.
